West Ham Pull Plug on Contract Talks with Bilic
According to your super, soaraway Sun!

Seems a bit more than speculation to be fair. If true the board are concerned about the performances too.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/2447309/west-ham-pull-the-plug-on-contract-talks-with-slaven-bilic-as-fears-mount-he-could-be-axed-after-poor-first-half-of-season/

C&P
WEST Ham have shelved talks over a new deal for boss Slaven Bilic until the end of the season.

Hammers chiefs had planned to begin discussing fresh terms with their Croatian manager over the Christmas period.

But after a rocky start to the campaign, there is still fears Bilic will face the axe despite picking up seven points from their past three games.

West Ham’s owners have not been convinced with the team’s performances throughout the entire season, and plan to see if it can be turned around.

Bilic is happy at the London Stadium, but wanted to have a new contract agreed by the New Year, which will not be the case.

A Hammers insider said: “Talks over any new deal have been put off until the end of the season at the earliest, to see what happens.

“Slaven has regularly made it clear he is happy to hold on before negotiating, but he wanted something in place by the turn of the year.

“Despite picking up seven points from the last three games, such has been the level of performance, that nobody is ready to sit down and talk turkey.

"The display against Hull had important people shaking their heads in despair. They looked like a pub team at times.”

David Sullivan, pictured here with co-owner David Gold, said at the start of the season he would look to give a new contract to Bilic in January - but he appears to have changed his mind
Bilic didn't enjoy watching his side labour through the first half

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan had revealed at the start of the campaign that talks were likely to be held with Bilic around January.

He said: “I will give Slaven a new deal in January. I just want to see that he is not a one-season wonder. I am sure he is not but we’ll talk next January.”

The hope at West Ham is that the 48-year-old former Croatia and Besiktas boss can still turn things around, as he is well thought of by the club.

Tensions remain high inside West Ham, as the level of performance currently is far below what was achieved last season and expected.

The Hammers are 13th in the Premier League, just five points off the relegation places, with a tricky run of fixtures coming over the New Year period.

I think it is only right to wait it out a bit to be fare, right now I would personally not give Bilic a big expensive stonking contract.

The football and some of his decisions as coach have been total wank this season. .
And I am a Bilic fan.

Me too Hairy and you're right about his decision making. He won't have his contract renewed I suspect...

Of course they need to wait...

Both sides need a stable and confident environment as a basis for talks and ndgotiztions...

This season has been very poor...and IMO most of it due to Bilic...but some blame must also lie with the Owners for their role in last summer's trznsfers...

Wait until April 1st...for negotiations...

Bit of a non news story really, pretty sure G&S said as much last season in that any new contract would be based over the 2 SEASONS when the same rag im sure was spouting that Bilic would get a new contract to ward off any other clubs in search of a new manager.

Re: West Ham Pull Plug on Contract Talks with Bilic
It would be ridiculous to offer him a new contract at the moment. Hopefully he turns it round though and gets one at the end of the season.

He's a good manager.

Re: West Ham Pull Plug on Contract Talks with Bilic
As said, a complete non story. Summer is the EARLIEST that this will be discussed, most likely they will wait to see how next season goes.

Bilic's management style is to me like a player, ie he's in good form or not, at the momen he's out of form, but will come back. The bloke clearly has a lot of pride and badly wants to succeed at this level, I mean, he wouldn't want to beome one of these managers like Zola, Lambert, Holloway, Warnock, McCarthy, etc, who are just on the merry go round at championship clubs.

Intelligent...personable...good football analyst...communicator...

But yet to prove himself as a competent ...stable...effective Football manager at Prem kevel...

Too many mistakes...and repeated...slow learner/hard headed...on several issues...

Not worth a new better contract yet...

No way that anyone but a fucking Sun journo would say the words 'talk turkey'.

It's just the sun making a story out of something that was already fucking obvious, cunts.

What sort of talks need to be plugged in to the electrical mains?
I suspect Bilic himself would also prefer to leave the whole thing to the end of the season.
If Payet is determined to leave and he doesn't think the club is capable of bringing in the players he needs it's not as though the stadium is going to have much in pull in keeping him.
Funnily enough I just can't imagine him having a close relationship with Sullivan and Lady Brady particularly.

Well if there is some truth in it and G&S have shelved talks for now then I agree with that decision. Not that I want Bilic gone; I just think that it is not the right time.

Hopefully this means we are lining up someone with pedigree who knows what they are doing to take over in the summer if not before.

Maybe you're right. I can't think of many managers like that but it definitely fits Alan Pardew to a tee. I hope Bilic doesn't turn out that way - it's just too risky and no good in the long term.

Even summer seems early unless we have an unbelievable second half of the season. I just can't see where people are getting the idea he's a good manager, there's not much evidence of this.

Erm, the job he done at Croatia, Besiktas as well as us last season?

You're a fucking tool, Vexed.

A typical 'glass half empty' statement.

Vexed, I think it's this romantic notion that he is the perfect fit as an ex player who is passionate about us.

Let's face it, our league position and performances at times last year papered over problems which have surfaced more this season.
There isn't much evidence he is a good manager at any club. It doesn't mean he can't become one but if you keep falling out with players and stick by your under-performing back room staff whilst making odd tactical decisions then you are going to come under pressure.

It doesn't look like the players understand what he wants them to do or don't trust/agree with what he wants them to do.

1 win off 9th, with the start we've had isn't bad going.

If anyone thought this season was going to be easy needs their heads checked.
